As a pedagogue, I have been teaching for 5years. I aware that language awareness, literature in classroom, interculturalcommunication are of significance for a qualified teacher. The hardest part forme to challenge is how to perform well in classroom management. Classroommanagement is to teaching what frame is to building. Classroom management isthe way teachers organize what goes on in the classroom. It contributesdirectly to the efficiency of teaching and learning.

I’ve learned that there are six basicelements of classroom management.

1The teacher plays appropriate rules.

2The teacher provides clear instructions.

3Students are grouped in a way suitable forthe leaning activities.

4The teacher asks appropriate questions.

5There is discipline as well as harmony inthe class.

6The students errors are treated properly.

Combined with my five-year-old teachingexperiences, I’d like to talk about the how these aspects have impact on myclass.


First of all, the diversity ofteachers’ roles should be mentioned. Before the class, the teacher is aplanner, who plans what to teach, how to teach and what result to achieve.During the class, teachers’ positions are various. A controller of wholeclass, the accessor for each student, an organizer in different activities, aparticipant in every part and a resourceprovider. To act well is a lifelonglesson to learn. Next skill is about clear instructions. The instructionsduring the class are of great importance which can improve the pace of theclass tightly. Simplify the instructions and make them practical during theclass. CCQ (concept checking questions) and ICQ (instruction checkingquestions) can be used to clarify instructions. As long as the instructions areeasy enough to be understood in L2 class, learners are purposeful in eachactivity. The third factor mentioned before is how to manage group activities.Studentcentered class is a tendency which can stimulate the potential oflearners thoroughly. When activities are designed, teachers should take learners’ performanceinto consideration in advanced to create the opportunity for learners to getinvolved by themselves. There are several activities including pair check,making an interview, doing a survey and etc. Proper group activities can notonly enhance the efficiency of class, but also can facilitate the connectionamong students communication. Then the discipline and harmony should be talked.Actually they aren’t conflicted with each other when used to discuss themanagement of class. Harmonious atmosphere is necessary because class is aminiature society in which different individuals are here. In order to make theteaching processes take place smoothly, harmony is essential. While disciplineis used to restrict some improper behaviors or to promote some suitableactions. Last but not least, students’ errors should be treated properly.Teachers should take responsibility to learners’ mental and physicaldevelopment. When some errors happen during the class, teachers are supposed tobe openminded to accept the errors as mistakes are unavoidable while learningand guide learners to learn from their experience without confidence busting.


All in all, as the saying goes ‘Nevertoo old to learn.’ TESOL do force me to reflect more during teaching.Great confidence and attic faith are given to me by my students which can helpme do better in grasping the point of achieving high-efficient classmanagement.
